ABI/DBI Training equips practitioners to confidently identify and respond to substance use through effective, compassionate interventions. The course covers how to spot signs of substance use, understand why interventions are needed, and how to carry them out. Participants learn to identify substances and understand why substance-specific knowledge matters, including tailored approaches for cannabis, cocaine/crack, benzodiazepines, ecstasy/MDMA, and opiates/heroin.
The training promotes harm reduction, safer alcohol strategies, and awareness of withdrawal symptoms, poly-substance use, and overdose signs. It also explores the Scottish landscape of substance use, including the rise in drug-related deaths. With practical tools, the course empowers professionals to deliver impactful brief interventions and connect individuals to further support.
Know the Script is a 3-hour course offering essential substance awareness. Participants also learn about common risks, addiction potential, and legal implications, helping build confidence in recognising.

Ideal for those in caring professions or informal support roles, it uses experiential learning to help participants develop and apply counselling techniques in both counselling and non-counselling settings.
