About Us

A Legacy of Support Since 1977

Since 1977, we have stood alongside people and families affected by alcohol and substance-related challenges. What began as a small local service has grown into a trusted and compassionate organisation supporting people.

Evolving to Meet Today's Complex Needs

Our roots were planted by community members who believed that everyone deserves understanding, dignity, and the chance to change their life. Over the decades, we have evolved to meet the complex realities people face today. We now provide a wide range of projects and counselling support addressing the anxiety, trauma, depression, physical health, and the barriers created by alcohol and substances, including prescribed medication.

Empowering Recovery and Wellbeing

We remain proudly independent, driven by the voices and experiences of the people we support. Our team includes skilled professionals and those with lived experience who know recovery is not linear. Today, as Substances Support Scotland, we continue that original promise: to empower people to rebuild wellbeing, reconnect with others, and move confidently toward a healthier future.
