East Lothian & Midlothian

We provide free and confidential alcohol and substance use support for adults aged 18+ across East Lothian and Midlothian.

Working in partnership with MELDAP (Midlothian and East Lothian Drugs and Alcohol Partnership), our teams provide accessible, person-centred psychosocial support across both areas.

Whether you are looking to make changes, reduce harm, improve your wellbeing or simply talk to someone about what is happening, we are here to support you. You do not need to be abstinent or already involved with other services to get in touch.

Coordinated Support

Through our partnership with MELDAP, we work alongside NHS services, health and social care, local authorities and other community partners to help people access coordinated support.

How We Can Help

The same support is available across East Lothian and Midlothian and is shaped around you, your circumstances and what you want to achieve.
Support can include:

  • One-to-one alcohol and substance use support
  • Psychosocial support
  • Harm reduction and staying safer
  • Emotional health and wellbeing
  • Building confidence, routine and stability
  • Setting goals and working towards positive change
  • Relapse prevention and maintaining progress
  • Practical support with wider issues affecting your wellbeing
  • Advocacy and help accessing other services
  • Connecting with health, social care and community support

We recognise that alcohol and substance use can affect many areas of someone's life. We take the time to understand what is happening for you and work alongside you on the things that matter most. Our work across East Lothian and Midlothian forms part of the wider local approach to supporting people affected by alcohol and substance use.

Through our partnership with MELDAP, we work alongside NHS services, health and social care, local authorities and other community partners to help people access coordinated support.

This partnership approach means we can look beyond one service or one issue, helping people connect with the right support at the right time and reducing the need to navigate different services alone.

Support in Your Community

Our support is not limited to our bases in Musselburgh and Dalkeith.

Our teams work across communities throughout East Lothian and Midlothian, helping to make support accessible and responsive to individual circumstances.

Where appropriate, support can be provided within community settings and through outreach, helping us reach people who may experience barriers to accessing traditional services.

Getting Support

You can refer yourself, or a family member, professional or another organisation can make a referral on your behalf.

To get started, select the Referral tab at the top of the page and complete our referral form.

Once we receive your referral, a member of the team will get in touch to talk about what support you are looking for and agree the next steps with you.
